D Street Homeless Shelter

The D St. Homeless Shelter is open all year to homeless single men and women over the age of 18. Individuals are allowed to stay for 160 days per calendar year. On-site health clinic and mental health services are available.

Clients have access to:

  • Hot meals and clothing
  • Showers and personal hygiene products
  • Resume preparation and job search
  • Referrals to low-income housing for Merced County Residents

Permanent Supportive Housing

Through a partnership with Merced County Behavioral Health, MCCAA provides permanent supportive housing for Merced County residents who are mentally ill and homeless. Housing is designed to be a long-term solution to recurring homelessness among mentally ill clients.

Our staff provides the needed encouragement and support to assist clients with managing the stresses of daily life.

Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA)

HOPWA assists with housing related expenses such as rent, mortgage, and utilities to individuals with HIV/AIDS. The program assistance can last up to 147 days per year. Not only does the program assist with housing expenses, but also with other supportive services such as nutritious groceries delivered to the person's home.

Individuals must:

  • Be income eligible
  • Provide HIV/AIDS verification
  • Be currently housed and have the proper documentation that documents their tenancy
  • Demonstrate their need for rental, utilities, and/or nutrition assistance
