The poverty rates in Merced County have historically remained higher than nearly all other counties, state and nationwide.
According to the U.S Census Bureau, Merced County’s poverty rate is 18.8%.
This means 1 in every 5 people live below the poverty line.
Additionally, it was reported that Merced County’s unemployment rate rose to 7.8% by October, 2023.
In response to this, MCCAA’s services aim to offset economic limitations and challenges that threaten low income individuals’ or families’ physical and mental health.
